Arizona RV Consignment Lots Should Be a Last Resort
March 20, 2012 12:04 pmThere are recreational vehicles for sale all over Arizona so I knew that it would be best if I avoided the Arizona RV consignment lots. They were supposedly better than selling by owner, but I just couldn’t see them being the most efficient method of selling my RV. I decided that I could do better and that I would keep the Arizona RV consignment lots on the back burner marked “last resort.”
I went in search of a better method of selling my RV. I was looking for:
1. A buyer that wasn’t going to be bombarded with so many options that buying mine would be a 1:400 chance.
2. A method of selling my recreational vehicle to someone who wanted to buy it now…not sometime in the next several months.
3. A method of selling the RV that wouldn’t mean a huge hassle waiting for the buyer to obtain necessary financing.
4. A method of selling your RV for a fair market value price without a long list of required cosmetic changes/repairs the buyer requires prior to being willing to buy.
This was the goal. I didn’t think I was asking too much. “For sale by owner” didn’t fit the bill because of the fact that you have to wade through a lot of semi-interested and not really interested buyers in order to find that one buyer that is probably serious. The “for sale by owner” process often takes months. It also poses problems with numbers: 1, 3 and 4. And that covers the full list. So “for sale by owner” was out.
Arizona RV consignment lots were a little better, but not much. They didn’t pose as much of a problem with the financing issues or annoying interactions with the potential buyers, but 1 and 2 were still entirely applicable when throwing the RV onto one of the consignment lots with all the other RVs.
That led me to SellMyRVToday.com. It’s a company that buys recreational vehicles. The professional basis of the buy means that number one isn’t applicable. I wouldn’t be competing against other vehicles because SellMyRVToday.com isn’t trying to buy one RV. They buy RVs, plural. As evident in the name of the company, they want to buy it today. So number two was also covered. They pay in certified funds upon pickup of the vehicle and most transactions are completed within 1 to 3 days. There are no annoying holdups to obtain financing. Number three was also covered. Last, but not least, SellMyRVToday.com buys RVs that are in good shape, 2002 or newer (excluding fifth wheels and travel trailers) for a fair price according to current market values. I had found the winner.
My conclusions were not off base. The sale went smoothly, quickly and I got what I wanted when it came to price. My decision to keep Arizona RV consignment lots as my last option was right on the money. The way I see it isn’t necessarily the way you see it, but…in this instance, if you disagree with me I’m willing to bet you should look again.
